Small Engine Mechanic

Shift Assignments are at the discretion of site management:

• 1st shift will be paid the base hourly rate.
• 2nd shift will be paid the base hourly rate of $26.72 per hour plus a 5% shift differential.
• 3rd shift will be paid the base hourly rate of $26.72 per hour plus a 10% shift differential.

Scope of Work:

The Small Engine Mechanic repairs fractional-horsepower gasoline engines.

Responsibilities:

• Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs to fractional-horsepower gasoline engines used to power lawnmowers, garden tractors, and similar machines.
• Uses hand tools to locate causes of trouble, dismantle engines, and examine parts for defects.
• Replaces or repairs parts, such as rings and bearings.
• Cleans and adjusts carburetor and magneto.
• Starts repaired engines and listens to sounds to test performance.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Consistently produces quality products and service. 
• Completes all training within required timeline. 
• Performs all work in a safe and secure manner. 
• Performs other duties as assigned.  

Minimum Requirements:

• Ability to obtain and maintain interim secret clearance.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
• Must have practical working experience with fractional-horsepower gasoline engines.
• Must be able to understand written and oral instructions to perform the required tasks.
• Must have a basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Prior experience with MAXIMO is a plus.
• Electrical Generator Systems Certification or formal generator training is preferred however demonstrated experience can be substituted in lieu of certification or formal training.
• OSHA 10 Hour or 30 Hour training is advantageous.
• Possess and demonstrate a courteous and positive attitude toward customers.
• Ability to follow policies and procedures.
• Ability to follow basic operating instructions.
• Demonstrated aptitude for successful completions of assigned tasks.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with others.
• Must have knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
• Must be able be able to conduct preventative maintenance activities and minor repairs from ladders or elevated platforms.
• Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in small areas or uncomfortable positions.
• Must be able to frequently lift, carry, and set up equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
• Must be able to occasionally lift and carry items weighing over 50 pounds.
• Must be comfortable getting dirty, dusty, and greasy in an indoor or outdoor environment with frequent exposure to inclement weather conditions.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
• Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test, criminal record check, and motor vehicle check.
