Responsibilities:

  • Performs systems maintenance and operations.
  • Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents.
  • Applies technical knowledge in troubleshooting, isolating malfunctions, repairing to the component level, and incorporating engineering change.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the interrelationships of analog, digital, mechanical, and RF operating system diagnostics and circuits.
  • Exercises independent judgment on tasks such as making circuit analyses, calculating waveforms, and tracing relationships in signal flow.
  • Uses test instruments such as pulse generators, spectrum analyzers, distortion analyzers, and computer analytical equipment.
  • Performs organizational and intermediate-level maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Provides technical guidance to lower-level technicians/operators.
  • Cross-trained and qualified to operate at least two additional systems.
  • Independently perform requirements for Range Safety Observer by communicating confidently on over the air radios.
  • Observe distant flight operations at day and night hours.
  • Transit towers over 80ft high.
  • Able to stand for long durations.
  • Able to be certified to climb/descend guided towers over 200ft high and carry equipment.
  • Operate and perform basic level preventative and corrective maintenance on computer systems to include limited network maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Perform maintenance on systems located throughout the range areas.
  • Complete and maintain Job Qualification Standards (JQS) within specified timeframes.
  • Driving pickup trucks, heavy equipment, all-terrain vehicles or similar vehicles. Maintenance of targets and range assets.
  • Conduct facility access control and security system maintenance.
  • Working in areas where exposure to snakes and insects is possible.
  • Working to a flexible schedule due to mission requirements.
  • Travel to support mission requirements.
  • Qualify and gain designation as Alternate Laser System Safety Observer (ALSO) and alternate live drop safety observer.
  • Must be operationally qualified at designated tech level within 180 days of hiring or promotion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Formal classroom education equivalent to Navy “C” School or vocational school, with formal training in the field of electronic equipment maintenance.
  • Four years’ experience in one or more of the following disciplines:
    1. Digital/analog signal processing
    2. Digital communications networks
    3. Synchro-servo circuits
    4. Electromechanical devices
    5. Video surveillance systems
    6. Intrusion Detection Systems (passive and active)
    7. Video camera systems
    8. Video signal processing and recording
    9. Communications (multiplexer equipment, VHF, UHF, microwave, fiber-optic)
    10. Digital/analog computer systems
    11. DC power supplies
    12. Test equipment
    13. RF signal processing
    14. Low voltage AC equipment
    15. Primary and secondary power equipment
    16. Auto-transfer (UPS) equipment
  • Able to communicate via over the air radios
  • Able to climb towers above 80ft
  • Basic knowledge of computers and networking
  • Pass a basic security clearance check
  • MICROSOFT SUITE (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Required to work in environmental controlled and uncontrolled area.
  • Be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Physically capable to climb at least 100 foot of stairs.
  • Must maintain current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • May be required to maintain current Safety at Heights climber certification.
  • May be required to maintain current Class B Pyrotechnics certification.
  • Must maintain licenses and/or credentials required for this position.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must be able to work independently and interact well with others in a team setting.
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • Highly motivated, flexible organized and must be detail oriented.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an interim security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a fully adjudicated security clearance.
  • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
  • Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.). Outside work in winter, summer, rain, sleet, and snow and on uneven terrain – side hills and slopes.
  • Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements of the customer to include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to perform on-call duties when necessary and report to work within the required timeframe from notification.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a team or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
