Scope of Work:
The primary purpose of the position is to lead and oversee the on-site safety program, ensuring compliance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA regulations, company, and additional regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Health & Safety Program.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations in accordance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA, and company policies.
- Conduct daily safety inspections and ensure hazard identification and mitigation are actively managed.
- Maintain clear communication with field staff, project managers, subcontractors, and federal safety officials.
- Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.
- Ensure all Competent Persons are present and appropriately credentialed for specific site hazards.
- Maintain all documentation related to safety training, inspections, incidents, and reporting.
- Act as the liaison with the Contracting Officer and Safety Office on all safety-related matters.
- Exercise supervisory responsibility to oversee daily operations, ensure task completion, and support overall contract performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Five (5) years of construction safety management experience on projects of similar size and complexity OR three (3) years of experience with a CSP certification or a degree in safety and health.
- Completion of a 40-hour EM 385-1-1 course, taught by a qualified instructor per ASSE/SAFE Z490.1 standards.
- Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification or equivalent. Must complete 24 hours of formal safety-related training every 4 years to maintain competency.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with work order systems such as Maximo preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 Public Trust background check, if required for the position.
- Must be able to maintain the ability to access the government worksite.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- This position is primarily performed in an office setting; however, regular site visits and field inspections are required. Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate active work sites when necessary. This may include standing, walking, bending, or climbing for extended periods while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
All candidates must successfully complete pre-employment screening, which may include but is not limited to a criminal background check, motor vehicle record review, and a 5-panel drug test, in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
