Scope of Work:

Supports the Primary Lead Mechanic in overseeing daily maintenance operations to ensure aircraft are serviced, inspected, and released safely and on schedule. This position provides leadership, technical expertise, and quality oversight for all line maintenance performed on the Boeing 737 Next Generation fleet. When the Lead Mechanic is absent, the Alternate assumes full responsibility for coordinating maintenance personnel and ensuring operational integrity.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Lead Mechanic in organizing, assigning, and monitoring line maintenance activities on B737-800 aircraft to meet flight schedule.
  • Act as Lead Mechanic when designated, assuming leadership and decision-making authority.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for maintenance control, operations, and engineering during the shift.
  • Perform and oversee scheduled and unscheduled line maintenance, including daily checks, service checks, MEL/CDL rectifications, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure all work performed meets OEM, and company requirements as outlined in the FOP’s, GOP’s, KALS Policies and Procedures, Maintenance Manual (AMM), Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC), and applicable task cards.
  • Review and verify proper completion of all maintenance documentation, including logbook entries, task cards, and non-routine records.
  • Assist in determining manpower, tooling, and parts requirements for efficient task execution.
  • Conduct shift handovers and ensure accurate communication of aircraft status, deferred items, and open discrepancies.
  • Perform line maintenance on B737 NG and provide on-the-job technical guidance and mentorship to mechanics/technicians.
  • Maintain the highest standards of safety, compliance, and professionalism within the maintenance team.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Five (5) years hands-on aircraft maintenance experience to include knowledge of Boeing 737-800 systems and maintenance procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault isolation skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins.
  • Effective communication and leadership under time-critical conditions
  • Prior experience in a lead or acting-lead role preferred.
  • Prior military experience in aviation preferred.
  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant License
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain airside access (SIDA badge)
  • High School diploma or General Education Diploma, GED, or technical school certificate.
  • Thorough knowledge of current FAA regulations, IPM, and ATA codes
  • Familiar with Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations
  • Ability to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) in a timely manner. 
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access worksite location to include various military installations and airports to meet customer operational requirements.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements of the customer to include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to perform on-call duties when necessary and report to work within the required timeframe from notification.
  • Must be able to pass a medical physical/evaluation exam prior to conducting flight and maintenance operations, and on a periodic basis within a five (5) year period in accordance with DCMA Instruction 8210.
  • Must be capable of regularly lifting, moving, pulling, and pushing objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Typical outdoor and industrial/hangar environments. Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.). Outside work in winter, summer, rain, sleet, and snow and on uneven terrain – side hills and slopes.
  • Must be able to lift and carry parts, tooling, and other awkward items sometimes weighing up to 50 lbs, including walking up and down stairs, aircraft maintenance stands, and platforms
  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • While performing the duties of this job, employees are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, and loud noise levels both inside and outside the hangar.
