Scope of Work:

Responsible for the procurement, processing and review of all department purchasing needs. Purchase assigned materials and services at the lowest cost considerations of quality, service, company procedures and Best Value for Fort Carson Support Services (FCSS) and Fort Carson.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the department supervisors and Clerks/Material Schedule Coordinators to ensure that all orders are purchased at the lowest possible cost in the appropriate timeline.
  • Review all new supplier orders.
  • Contact suppliers to determine classification, terms of sale and other necessary information.
  • Ensure that supplier is accurately set up in MAXIMO.
  • Review all contracts presented with order, modify and signed.
  • Identify orders where contracts are necessary, secure those contracts and process orders.
  • Place orders to appropriate suppliers
  • Expedite problems regarding order delivery, damaged shipments, shipping errors, etc.
  • Assist with resolving billing errors.
  • Perform cost/price analysis for routine orders.
  • Oversee and follow up on pending and return orders to insure processing is accomplished in minimal timeframe.
  • Meet with suppliers.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable government regulations. (FAR)
  • Draft and submit requests for approval to COR and other Representatives of the DPW as required and/or needed.
  • Confer with customers, supervisors, sub-contractors, and others to exchange information and resolve problems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field from a four-year college or university is preferred but not required.
  • A minimum of least two years of responsible warehouse experience, purchasing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a high-volume office area and interface in a positive manner with co-workers and the customer.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a team or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Performs all assigned duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Displays courtesy and skill in dealing with internal and external customers, coworkers, and management.
  • Accurately maintains and updates records to enable quick and efficient retrieval of information.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must possess the ability to interact well with others in a team setting ability or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • Highly motivated, flexible organized and must be detail oriented.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
  • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
