Scope of Work:

The Controls Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of Facility-Related Control Systems (FRCS), Operational Technology (OT), and Information Technology (IT) systems. This role supports the DDC Network Engineer by ensuring that all systems and applications function properly, meet operational requirements, and are maintained in compliance with cybersecurity standards. The Controls Technician plays a key role in minimizing system interruptions and ensuring systems are operated in the most energy-efficient manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Continuously monitor and operate FRCS, OT, and IT systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance with design standards.
  • Shall manage and utilize the installation DDC systems where available to optimize energy efficiency while maintaining occupant air quality, and to also support the sustainment of HVAC systems and minimize downtime.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs to the component level for control systems and applications; respond within one hour and complete repairs within 24 hours.
  • Assist in system configuration management, ensuring software and hardware updates are implemented according to Government Configuration Management guidance.
  • Install and configure government-procured systems and applications, performing necessary testing to verify proper integration and functionality.
  • Identify and document system deviations; provide daily reports on systems in override/bypass/manual mode, ensuring all necessary repairs and adjustments are tracked.
  • Ensure all system adjustments comply with Government Cybersecurity Configuration Management Guidance; support cybersecurity activities to maintain system network accreditation.
  • Assist with facilities engineering services, including system maintenance, updates, and compliance with technical documents and industry standards.
  • Assist with software/hardware configuration changes to FRCS, OT, and IT systems (i.e., BCS, UCS, SCADA, EMCS, DDC, etc.), including software maintenance that is acquired as part of a system or system upgrade where practicable.
  • Perform all assigned duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Complete all training within required timeline.
  • Perform all work in a safe and secure manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum three years’ experience in control systems or related field.
  • Certified ISA Certified Control Systems Technicians and OEM certified for each control system manufacturer
  • Proficient in FRCS, OT and IT systems, basic understanding of security procedures.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a high-volume office area and interface in a positive manner with co-workers and the customer.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a team or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Knowledge of office automation software (MS Windows, MS Office, including PowerPoint, Word, Access, and Excel) required.
  • Displays courtesy and skill in dealing with internal and external customers, coworkers, and management.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must possess the ability to interact well with others in a team setting ability or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • Highly motivated, flexible organized and must be detail oriented.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
  • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
  • Duties will require frequent periods of sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, crouching, crawling, reaching, and balancing. Physically fit to bend, stoop, and lift in awkward positions and able to lift up to 20lbs.
  • Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the customer’s mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
