Scope of Work:
The Director of FP&A will lead the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis function for a fast-growing government contracting organization. This role is responsible for providing financial insights, business intelligence, and decision support to executive leadership while ensuring compliance with federal contracting requirements (FAR, CAS, DCAA). The Director will partner cross-functionally with Operations, Contracts, and Accounting to drive profitability, optimize resource allocation, and improve business performance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the corporate budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes, ensuring alignment with company strategy and contract requirements.
- Develop financial models, dashboards, and reporting packages to provide actionable insights for leadership decision-making.
- Partner with program managers and operations leadership to analyze program financial performance, including revenue, margins, indirect rates, and cash flow.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on key business drivers, financial trends, and performance metrics.
- Oversee indirect rate modeling, forward pricing rate proposals, and variance analysis in compliance with CAS/FAR.
- Collaborate with Contracts and Pricing teams to support new business proposals, cost/price volumes, and scenario modeling.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the CFO and executive leadership on financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing FP&A team, building capabilities in government contracting financial management.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy across financial systems (e.g., Deltek Costpoint, Cognos/BI, Adaptive, or other planning/reporting tools).
- Drive process improvement and automation initiatives to streamline reporting, forecasting, and analysis.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required; MBA or CPA/CFA preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in FP&A leadership within a government contracting environment.
- Strong knowledge of GovCon regulations and practices, including FAR, DFARS, CAS, and DCAA compliance.
- Hands-on experience with indirect rate structures, forward pricing, cost allocations, and proposal support.
- Proficiency with ERP and reporting tools (e.g., Deltek Costpoint, Cognos, Adaptive, FocusPoint, or similar).
- Exceptional analytical, financial modeling, and strategic thinking skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership.
- Proven ability to lead teams and build collaborative relationships across functions.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Regular use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling office equipment.
- Ability to occasionally walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop or kneel.
- May occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds (e.g., files, office supplies).
- Clear vision to read documents on computer screens.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone/video meeting, and email.
