Scope of Work: The primary purpose of this position is to perform dishwashing duties in a food service environment, ensuring a consistent supply of clean dishes, utensils, cookware, and glassware in accordance with DFAC kitchen standards and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and equipment
  • Operate dishwashing equipment in accordance with manufacturer and safety guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation standards, including temperature controls
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen and dishwashing area.
  • Adhere to all safety, sanitation, and operational procedures
  • Keep the dishwashing area clean, organized, and hazard-free
  • Monitor and restock cleaning supplies as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • One (1) year experience in a commercial or military kitchen preferred.
  • Successful completion of Food Service Medical Clearance (Tri-Service Food Code – TB Med 530).
  • Completion of required training on chemical safety, including understanding product labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS), in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.1200.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and adapt to changing tasks on short notice.
  • Working knowledge of workplace safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices
  • Strong attention to cleanliness and organization
  • Availability to work early shifts (starting as early as 5:30 a.m., Monday–Friday)

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced commercial kitchen environment with exposure to heat, noise, sharp tools, and cleaning chemicals; requires strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities such as pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, standing, and reaching for extended periods.
  • Must be available to work on-call, alternate, and extended shifts as needed to support mission requirements, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Employees may be required to remain on-site for extended periods during scheduled exercises or real-world events (e.g., 24-hour lockdowns) to meet contractual obligations.
