Scope of Work:
The primary purpose of this position is to perform custodial and housekeeping duties to maintain satellite communications facilities and associated support structures at the White Sands Complex (WSC) in a clean, safe, and orderly condition. This position supports the Facilities Maintenance & Operations (M&O) Department and ensures all assigned areas meet cleanliness and sanitation standards in accordance with contract requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine custodial duties, including sweeping, wet/dust mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, break areas, and common spaces.
- Strip, wax, and buff floors and maintain various floor surfaces.
- Clean windows, walls, and other interior/exterior surfaces as assigned.
- Maintain custodial equipment and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Follow established cleaning schedules and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Support facility readiness by maintaining a clean and hazard-free environment.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum of three (3) years of custodial/janitorial experience in a commercial or industrial environment.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Practical knowledge of workplace safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement (CBA); union membership may be required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) lifting up to 35 pounds, and frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and balancing.
- Must be physically capable of performing duties in awkward positions and for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
- Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions and may include exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces and around operational hazards while using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
