Scope of Work:

Performs corrective and preventive maintenance on facility heavy equipment, including Cranes, Diesel Generators, Hydraulic Systems, and Power Distribution Systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs maintenance on mobile cranes, facility cranes, and miscellaneous equipment as identified in the NAVFAC P-307 and by OEM standards.
  • Performs crane and other weight-handling equipment (WHE) maintenance using diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications.
  • To disassemble, rebuild, and reinstall systems such as Booms, Hoists, and Outrigger beams
  • Troubleshoot equipment systems and subsystems, including Hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems
  • Perform routine maintenance on diesel generators, including items Oil and filter changes, Fuel system inspections and servicing, Cooling system checks (radiators, hoses, coolant levels), Battery testing and replacement, and Belt and pulley adjustments
  • Participate in aspects of critical power systems installation, start-up, and commissioning.
  • Performs scheduled electric power generator equipment maintenance, including diesel engines, generators, and transfer switches.
  • Conduct load bank tests to ensure generators can handle their rated capacity and perform effectively under load.
  • Lead and perform generator commissioning activities, including verifying system installation, conducting performance tests, and ensuring all components function according to design specifications.
  • Troubleshooting and repairs on 3-Phase and Single Phase A.C. motors Speed control introduction and protection circuits Brakes, multi-speed magnetic controls, and adjustable frequency controls
  • Documents and records work order status.
  • Complete all training within the required timeline.
  • Consistently produces quality products and services.
  • Perform all work safely and securely.
  • Perform all assigned duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen or authorized to work in the US or a US territory.
  • Journey-level maintenance mechanic with a minimum of four (4) years experience on cranes and crane repair to include air, manual, and electric overhead with a capacity range of up to 15 tons
  • Preferred ASE Master Technician Certification.
  • Must have an active NAVFAC P-307 crane operator license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited technical school.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Five years of experience in maintaining power production equipment.
  • Must be able to read electrical schematics and perform technical inspections.
  • Ability to work assigned schedule.
  • Data entry skills and accuracy utilizing various databases/software required.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a team or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Displays courtesy and skill in dealing with internal and external customers, coworkers, and management.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must possess the ability to interact well with others in a team setting ability or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • Highly motivated, flexible organized and must be detail oriented.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
  • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, constant use of sight abilities, constant use of hearing/speech abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May involve work in different environments (shop or other facility) that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated, exposure to wet; humid conditions; fumes; airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock; exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme temperatures, and vibration. Routinely lifts 15-25 pounds, occasionally lifts in excess of 45 pounds. May require climbing on structures, ladders, towers, and be properly trained in
  • fall protection gear and procedures. Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.).
  • Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the customer’s mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
