Scope of Work:
The primary purpose of the position is to support Snow Removal Operations in support of the USAF Academy project site.
Responsibilities:
- As part of the snow removal team, incumbent will perform section stand by duties, under the Pavements & Equipment Manager (P&E), and P&E leads to accomplish 24 hr. snow removal operations to include but not limited to snow plowing & snow removal on the base and have mission ready runway surface on airfield.
- Perform base snow inspection and relay findings to Pavements & Equipment Manager (P&E) and P&E leads.
- Efficiently operate heavy equipment such as, but not limited to snow blowers, dump trucks with snowplows and attached sand spreaders, magnesium chloride tanker (trailer mounted), front-end loaders, backhoes, motor graders, skid steers, CDL trucks and equipment.
- Operate heavy equipment as required, including but not limited to the following activities in various types of terrain (dirt, snow, etc.)
- Incumbent is to perform equipment checks as required to ensure all equipment is properly maintained and in safe operating condition. Notates any repair or maintenance needed and notifies the vehicle maintenance facility of any deficiencies prior to operation.
- Performs minor maintenance and other related duties as assigned.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Commercial Driver’s License Class “B” required.
- Tanker Endorsement preferred, not required
- 2 Year Vocational Degree or Equivalent Military Experience with 2 years of work-related skills, knowledge, and experience OR 5 years of direct work-related skills, certifications, knowledge, and experience.
- Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Must be able to perform stand-by duties when scheduled and report to work within one hour of notification.
- Ability to work extended hours during heavy snowfall and emergency situations.
- Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements of the customer to include weekends and holidays.
- Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 60 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.).
