Scope of Work:
The Stationary Engineer operates and maintains one or more systems that provide an establishment with such services as heat, air-conditioning (cool, humidify, dehumidify, filter, and circulate air), refrigeration, steam or high temperature water or electricity at MCAS Beaufort.
Responsibilities:
The stationary engineer conducts, but is not limited to:
- Observing and interpreting readings on gauges, meters and charts which register various aspects of the system’s operation
- Adjusting controls to insure safe and efficient operation of the system and to meet demands for the service provided
- Making repairs as needed
- Have the ability to work on gas and electric boilers
- Recording in logs various aspects of the system’s operation, keeping the engines, machinery and equipment of the system in good working order.
- May direct and coordinate activities of other workers (not stationary engineers) in performing tasks directly related to operating and maintaining the system or systems.
- Perform on-call duties and report to work within the required timeframe from notification.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Consistently produces quality products and service.
- Completes all training within required timeline.
- Performs all work in a safe and secure manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
- Must possess boiler and Pressure Vessel Certification.
- Knowledgeable and skilled in repair of electronic control equipment.
- Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
- Ability to follow basic operating instructions.
- Demonstrated aptitude for successful completions of assigned tasks.
- Possess and demonstrate a courteous and positive attitude toward customers and co-workers.
- Ability to read, write and understand English.
- Must possess the ability to work in a team or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
- Must have knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Must have ability to maintain assigned work hours.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds or more on a regular basis.
- Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.).
- Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the customer’s mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to perform on-call duties when necessary and report to work within the required timeframe from notification.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.
- Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
- Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test, criminal record check, and motor vehicle check.
