Scope of Work:

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in performing systems engineering processes, procedures, and best practices, providing engineering expertise across various activities including development, testing, evaluation, training, and configuration management in support of an acquisition program. The role involves providing specialized engineering support in the transport and networking architecture focusing on current and future tactical network capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform systems engineering processes, procedures, and best practices to support various acquisition program activities.
  • Provide engineering expertise in development, testing, evaluation, training, and configuration management.
  • Offer engineering support specifically focused on the transport and networking architecture concerning current and future tactical network capabilities.
  • Support design reviews and conduct comprehensive technical evaluations and assessments of network performance and architectures, including risk assessments and integration strategies.
  • Assist in Capability Set (CS) and Integrated Tactical Network (ITN) activities.
  • Provide technical support to evaluate and integrate new technologies for communications modernization.
  • Collaborate effectively with various organizations, including PEO C3T, other PMs and PdMs, ACM, and other Army-wide stakeholders, ensuring coordination on interoperability considerations.
  • Review and interpret acquisition documentation (e.g., mission needs statements, operational needs statements, ICDs, CDDs, CPDs, technical specifications, etc.) for Army tactical communications systems.
  • Translate requirements into technical solutions that are standards-based and cost-efficient.
  • Review Government performance work statements and contractor proposals for technical accuracy and compliance with requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, testing, or a related field.
  • Secret Security Clearance.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ tactical network systems engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in systems engineering with a focus on network engineering.
  • Experience in designing and implementing LANs or VLANs.
  • Expertise with routing protocols, multicast, routing configurations, IPv4/IPv6 addressing, etc.
  • Proficiency in network protocol analysis using tools such as Sniffer or Wireshark.
  • Knowledge and experience with VMware.
  • Familiarity with commercial communications equipment.
  • Understanding of transport and network architectures.
  • Knowledge of end-to-end network design and performance.
  • Must maintain licenses and/or credentials required for this position.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must possess the ability to interact well with others in a team setting ability or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • Highly motivated, flexible organized and must be detail oriented.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
  • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
  • Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.). Outside work in winter, summer, rain, sleet, and snow and on uneven terrain – side hills and slopes.
  • Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the customer’s mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to perform on-call duties when necessary and report to work within the required timeframe from notification. 
  • Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
